Bled is called “The Jewel Of Slovenia” because of its nice arrangement of a lake, an island and a castle perched high up on a cliff. It is therefore a tourist place with everything that goes with it: big hotels, fancy restaurants and casinos. It is visited by aristocrats and famous people, mostly from Britain. The island is now home to a church, but before there was a temple consecrated to Zhiva, the Slavic goddess of love and fertility.
