Idrija is a tiny mining town born the same year as America. Five hundred years of mining mercury made it an interesting site with an abundance of natural sights and cultural-historical as well as technical monuments. It is also known for the lace making and, locally, for its psychiatric institution. Socially it forms some kind of a vortex in space-time continuum and its unusual character produced many creative and successful people.

The Wild Lake, squeezed under a 300 m cliff,
is part of the Karst underground system
and doesn't have a bottom.
